COSCÃÂN is a four piece Trad / Contemporary Folk band based in Slane, Co. Meath, Ireland. They play an exciting style of world music and song incorporating contemporary music and Traditional music from Scotland, Galicia and South America with emphasis on our root music - Traditional Irish Music. Having performed at various festivals and venues throughout Ireland e.g. Fiddler's Green Festival in Rostrevor, Co. Down, Tara Solstice Festival, Le CheÃÂle Festival and the National Concert Hall to name but a few, they have supported some well known bands such as The Dubliners, KÃÂla and Four Men & a Dog. COSCÃÂN has also performed live on several Irish radio shows e.g. ÃÂine Hensey's The Late Session, Kieran Hanrahan's CéilàHouse, Ryan Tubridy's The Tubridy Show and the RTÉ TV documentary covering the Autumn Equinox at Loughcrew in Co. Meath. They have also performed live on several French radio stations, most notibly Blue Breiz and RGB France. KERN, local champions of contemporary folk and traditional influences, are comprised of SJ McArdle (guitar and vocals), Brendan McCreanor (uilleann pipes) and Barry Kieran (fiddle). Each are established in their own craft, but when brought together produce a sound which is worthy of critical acclaim within the evolving boundaries of traditional Irish music. The band has released a debut album, False Deceiver, produced by Trevor Hutchinson (Lúnasa, The Waterboys). It is a mix of songs and tunes from the band's home County of Louth along original material and has already garnered significant national airplay in Ireland (including RTE Lyric FM and Radio 1), including live appearances on Newstalk's Pat Kenny Show and Raidio na Gaeltachta. More recently Kern released a single, â€Å“Till the Docklands Drownâ€Â, produced by Donal O'Connor (Ulaid, At First Light). The song was featured in the IFTA-winning Element Pictures movie A Date for Mad Mary. The band has toured extensively in the past year and has just won the 2018 TradFest Temple Bar Showcase and will be heading for Milwaukee Irish Fest in August. Coscán and Kern will be joined by special guests on the evening.
