The Liz McNicholl Band Folk/Americana Liz McNicholl (Maiden name- Liz Dolan) a native of County, Meath emigrated to the US when she was 18 and has played at venues across the US and has shared the stage with some of the finest muscians over the years and has done many tours with the acclaimed group, Cherish the Ladies. Liz and her band are returning to Ireland for a mini tour and will perform at The Central on Thurs, June 27th. After living & performing in New York for many years, Liz moved to Connecticut & started her own Connecticut based band in 2002 which hails some of the finest musicians around. Their sound has evolved into a crisp blend of Folk/ Americana style over the years with many originals songs intertwined in their repertoire. Liz has released two solo albums "Grand Central Station" and "Tiny Lights" and in 2009 released the band's CD (titled“The Crickstones”) featuring Folk/Americana style music and many of the band's orginal music. With tight harmonies and solo-dueling/lick trading by John Hurley and Pete Blossom on guitar. MorganEve Swain on Fiddle adding soulful harmonies, and Fred McKay, on bass anchors down the songs with his steadfast rhythm, and has a voice that will melt the world away. The band, led by Liz McNicholl, adds beautiful vocals ranging from Celtic to folk/Americana Style often said to sound like Mary Black, "The Irish Adele", or Eva Cassidy. With tons of personality, a bit of wit & their voices & instruments blended so perfectly, the band will transport you for the evening and will take your troubles away ... well at least "temporarily"!
