Joy Division were an English rock band formed in Salford in 1976. The group consisted of vocalist Ian Curtis, guitarist/keyboardist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris.

While Joy Division's first recordings were heavily influenced by early punk, they soon developed a sparse sound and style that made them one of the pioneers of the post-punk movement. Their self-released 1978 debut EP An Ideal for Living drew the attention of the Manchester television personality Tony Wilson, who signed them to his independent label Factory Records Joy Division have influenced bands including their contemporaries the Cure and U2, to later acts such as Bloc Party, Editors, Interpol, The Proclaimers, and Soundgarden.

In 1980, U2 singer Bono said that Joy Division were "one of the most important bands of the last four or five years". Ian Curtis was the iconic singer-songwriter of the band. He recorded two albums with the group: Unknown Pleasures and Closer. The reason Sumner, Hook and Morris didn't carry on as Joy Division was out of respect to an agreement they'd had between them long before Curtis died. They'd pledged to quit performing under the Joy Division name and retire those songs if - for any reason - any member of the band left.

The remaining members regrouped under the name New Order. They were successful throughout the next decade, blending post-punk with electronic and dance music influences. Digital reproduce the raw atmospheric sound of Joy Division from their early post-punk days through to their ethereal last works. Selecting tracks from the entire Joy Division catalog, Digital perform an intense but energetic live show - not to be missed. Digital work to emulate the iconic sound of Joy Division, one of the most ground breaking and influential bands of that generation.
